Another year has flown by. 2016 has seen us celebrate numerous awards, grow the studio to 31 and toast the completion of some significant projects. Many exciting new projects and collaborations have kept us busy and we share our top ten highlights with you below.
With the year quickly drawing to a close, we take this chance to thank you for your support and partnerships. We wish you all a very happy festive season and look forward to seeing you in 2017.
2016 was a huge year for Lat27 – with our projects winning a total of 9 awards. Big thanks to our collaborators, subcontractors and clients.
We launched our new website in September. Lots of new projects have been added and some great video of 480 Queen from our new drone.
Our studio continued to grow in 2016 with 7 new staff joining us this year: Landscape Architects Alice Laurie, Aili Hardner and Sasha Paterson, Graduate Architect Merrille Antalan, Graduate Architect and Landscape Architect Arlyn Romeo and IT Manager Megan Armstrong.

Andrew Neighbour was welcomed to the Lat27 Director group earlier this year. As we all know, Andrew is a true collaborator and a highly respected, award winning designer.
This year has been jam packed with opportunities to engage with and contribute back into the industry. Nathalie and Andrew lead an AILA walking tour of our Brisbane Ferry Terminals projects, Damian and Nathalie were featured speakers on a PIA walking tour of the Brisbane Showgrounds Redevelopment, Damian was the moderator for a Brisbane Open House panel discussion and Wendy, Damian and Riley lectured and tutored at QUT. Lat27 were also the proud sponsors of the QUT Landscape Architecture Fourth Year Design Award.
King Street is alive and kicking - 2016 has seen the opening of new restaurants, a hotel and new residential buildings, breathing new life into the first stages of the Brisbane Showgrounds redevelopment.
One of our biggest projects, 480 Queen Street opened to the public and tenants this year with great acclaim, including featuring in this year’s Brisbane Open House.
In January we were engaged as the landscape architects and urban designers for the Kingsford Smith Drive upgrade. We’ve been busy working on the design and are anticipating the start of construction in early 2017.
Parklands Project on the Gold Coast took some massive leaps and bounds closer to the finishing line during 2016. The masterplan incorporates seven hectares of residential and retail precincts and seven hectares of parklands and open space. The remaining land will be retained by the Queensland Government for future development opportunities which may be complementary to those activities already within the Gold Coast Health and Knowledge Precinct.

We moved to our 300 Ann Street studio over a year ago now... needless to say we've adjusted to city life with gusto and lots of great coffee.
