LatStudios was engaged to prepare a Place Audit for potential new open space locations within Bayside Council’s Major Activity Centres.

Research into local context, key policy, best practice open space frameworks and open space examples led to the development of a criterion list that was formulated into an open space Audit Tool.

This was tested and refined as based on the assessment of thirteen identified spaces across five Activity Centres. These spaces were assessed to better identify priority locations for new open space, inform strategic and statutory policies, direct investment opportunities and improve the sustainability of these Activity Centres where a majority of the population growth will be accumulated.

The results of the audit enabled the development of a series of suggestions for specific site improvements to improve scores as well as overarching recommendations for each Activity Centre by prioritising sites.
