Bald Hill to Merri Creek Master Plan
LatStudios is proud to be partnering with Mitchell Shire Council to deliver the Bald Hill to Merri Creek Landscape Master Plan.
Located on Wurundjeri Woi-wurrung Country, the project forms part of the marram baba Merri Creek Regional Parklands—a 2,778-hectare natural corridor in Melbourne’s North Growth Corridor, shaped by volcanic formations, native grasslands, and vital creek systems.
Building on the vision for the Parklands to become “the preeminent natural corridor running through Melbourne’s north on Wurundjeri Woi-wurrung Country, connecting and nurturing culture, nature, water, and people,” the Master Plan will guide the creation of a new open space reserve and provide recommendations on how the project can further contribute to this vision by:
- Strengthening connection to Country and promoting Caring for Country principles, guided by Wurundjeri Woi-wurrung cultural values
- Extending the vision for the Parklands as Melbourne’s northern nature corridor by incorporating significant volcanic cones
- Supporting a continuous, connected wildlife corridor and parkland experience from inner Melbourne to the Great Dividing Range—linking Merri Creek arklands in the south with the potential Wallan Wallan Regional Parklands in the north
- Enhancing community connection to the Parklands by supporting appreciation of the Merri Creek’s view lines, soundscapes, seasonal rhythms, and landscape character
The Master Plan is being developed in close partnership with Wurundjeri and will embed cultural values into the final designs and proposed initiatives.
