Aldoga Solar Farm LVIA and Expansion

ClientAECOM on behalf of Acciona Energy

LatStudios was commissioned by AECOM on behalf of ACCIONA to undertake a Landscape and Visual Impact Assessment (LVIA) of the Aldoga Solar Farm project to inform a Planning Report that AECOM was preparing to support a Material Change of Use (MCU) Development Application (DA) for a Renewable Energy Facility and Substation at the Site under the Gladstone State Development Area Development Scheme. The LVIA considered the impact of the solar farm on the landscape from viewpoints, including from the popular Mount Larcom summit trail. It also considered the visual impacts of the scheme against alternative types of industrial development permitted under the GSDA zoning.  LatStudios also prepared a supplementary report on the proposed 3-4km overhead electrical transmission line to connect the site’s substation to the nearby Powerlink 275kV Larcom Creek Terminal Station. The Aldoga solar farm received approval from the Queensland Coordinator General in May 2019.

LatStudios was then commissioned by ACCIONA to update the LVIA and prepare associated visualisations for their proposed expansion to the solar farm to increase the output capacity. This expansion has now also been approved.
