The Braybrook Regeneration Project in Melbourne seeks to significantly improve both the quality and quantity of public open space across the precinct. Led in collaboration with the Victorian Planning Authority and Maribyrnong City Council, the project recognises that high-quality landscapes are fundamental to creating sustainable, liveable communities. Through a combination of strategic research, best-practice review and stakeholder workshops, the project has established a vision for an integrated network of upgraded parks, streets and public spaces across Braybrook that prioritise landscape amenity, urban canopy, pedestrian comfort and environmental resilience.

At the heart of the Regeneration Project is the Braybrook Landscape Master Plan, which LatStudios completed in 2024. The Master Plan sets out a cohesive framework for creating diverse and accessible public spaces that support passive recreation, active use and water-sensitive urban design. The envisioned improved open space network across Braybrook is intended to provide a range of experiences while responding to ecological systems and the needs of a growing community in Melbourne’s inner-west. Together with enhanced streetscapes, these proposed open spaces will form a connected green framework that strengthens both environmental resilience and everyday liveability.

Aligned with the four strategic principles of the Braybrook Urban Design Framework – Connectivity and Legibility; Vibrant and Diverse Community; Sustainability and Open Space; and Amenity and Character – the project aims to shape a future Braybrook defined by strong community connections, inclusive public life, environmental sustainability and a distinctive sense of place. The regeneration will celebrate local character through high-quality public realm design while preparing the area to adapt to climate change and ongoing urban growth.
