Braybrook Regeneration Project

Braybrook is an Urban Renewal Precinct in Melbourne’s inner west that has been identified by the State Government as a Strategic Site. The suburb is expected to experience rapid growth by 2051, with a need to deliver 10,000 new dwellings and renew existing public housing that is no longer fit for purpose.
The Braybrook Regeneration Project seeks to implement an Urban Design Framework for the precinct to guide this future growth, with the aim of significantly improving both the quality and quantity of housing and public open space. The Regeneration Project and its strategies have been developed with input from specialist economic, transport, architecture, engineering, community infrastructure and engagement teams to provide a well-rounded framework that will ensure Braybrook is inclusive, connected and affordable. Alongside the Braybrook Landscape Master Plan – a component of the project also undertaken by LatStudios – the Regeneration Project will help make Braybrook a greener, healthier and more vibrant place to live in the future.
The Braybrook Regeneration Project is a collaboration between local and state government, including Maribyrnong City Council, the Department of Health and Human Services, Homes Victoria and the Department of Transport, and is led by the Victorian Planning Authority (now part of the Department of Transport and Planning) as our client. Several private specialist consultancy teams form part of the working group and have been involved since early 2020. Through a combination of strategic research, best-practice review and stakeholder workshops, the project has established a clear vision for the future of Braybrook.
