The Rockhampton Northern Access Road project proposed updates of the Bruce Highway in Parkhurst (Rockhampton) to provide dual two-lane carriageways together with intersection, access upgrades and a new roundabout. The project is located 8 km northeast from the Rockhampton CBD and is located within the Rockhampton Regional Council area.

LatStudios prepared a Landscape and Visual Assessment (LVA) on behalf of AECOM for DTMR to facilitate the preparation of the Review of Environmental Factors (REF) in accordance with the project Terms of Reference and Road Landscape Manual.

The report described the existing landscape character and visual amenity values of the road corridor, identified people who are likely to experience and value views of the landscape, and evaluated the significance of the impact. These outcomes assisted AECOM to develop engineering and landscape design proposals to mitigate and manage the identified impacts.

Construction of the road was completed in September 2021.
