This master plan captures the Community’s and Council’s collective vision for the Woolgoolga Town Centre. It is both a framework for decision-making and an ‘ideas map’ to be embraced by community, local traders, business and government to enhance and grow the heart of the town in line with their vision:

“To grow Woolgoolga in a way that does not affect its unspoilt & unhurried beachside character, but that is proactive in supporting business growth.”

In recent years, the completion of the Pacific Highway bypass and the addition of a new major retail chain supermarket have fundamentally changed the role and structure of Woolgoolga - a transformation from a thoroughfare to a destination town. The Town Centre can now focus outwardly and compete in the sub-region economy. Supporting this, the master plan:

  • Establishes a planning and urban design framework to guide growth and capture economic prosperity;
  • Delivers planned growth in a manner that responds to community values and existing township qualities;
  • Builds a first-class public realm with a transport system that supports a prosperous and vibrant town centre, and a healthy, happy, and connected community;
  • Capitalises on key opportunities and catalytic projects; and
  • Supports a sustainable future.
