Mansfield Station Precinct

ClientMansfield Shire

LocationMansfield, VIC

We were approached by Mansfield Shire council to provide guidance for the future of the townships’ former station precinct, which includes heritage remnant station fabric, Scar Trees, an existing information centre, wetlands, a rail trail and various open spaces.

Several elements of the Precinct are of local significance, such as the site’s important Indigenous and post-European cultural significance, the thriving wetland natural ecosystem, and the tourism opportunities of the Great Victorian Rail Trail.

The aim of the master plan is to enhance activation of the precinct and capitalise upon the site’s gateway qualities to create a welcoming community place for people of all generations and cultures to come together in a vibrant, sustainable and engaging setting. The master plan does this by firstly analysing the urban context for the Mansfield Station Precinct, proposing master plan options, and working with Council and the local community to implement the preferred design option.
