His approach is grounded in rigorous research and a deep understanding of place. He seeks to uncover the environmental, cultural and community drivers that shape each project, translating these into functional, enduring design responses. Tom is particularly interested in creating landscapes that are not only well-resolved technically, but are valued, used and cared for by the communities they serve - recognising that this is fundamental to their long-term success.
He has a strong commitment to biodiversity-positive design, embedding ecological thinking into projects wherever possible. He also champions meaningful and respectful engagement with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities, recognising the central role of Country in shaping landscape architecture practice.
As a Practice Director, Tom plays a key role in leading multidisciplinary teams and guiding projects through complex stakeholder environments. He brings a collaborative, solutions-focused approach and is adept at balancing design ambition with clear communication and alignment to deliver integrated and lasting outcomes.
