The latest open space project identified within the Brisbane Showgrounds Public Realm Master Plan, Alexandria Park, has now been completed and will be unveiled at this years Royal Queensland Show (aka the Ekka). This new stage adds a much needed green space for local workers, residents and visitors to the Brisbane Showgrounds as well as their four-legged friends to enjoy throughout the year. Building 8 has been given a new lease on life as an events pavilion with the site designed to accommodate a variety of community and precinct events throughout the year including the annual Canine Judging Competition at the Ekka.

Along with preserving the built heritage layering of the Brisbane Showgrounds, equally as valued is preserving existing mature fig trees and bottle tree within the park, ensuring a large portion of the site is shaded by green canopy along with reinforcing the locally authentic character of the Showgrounds.
