“Brisbane: An independent vision for the state’s capital” is a strategy document assembled by the Office of the Queensland Government Architect. Lat27 Director Nathalie Ward was one of a selected group of Brisbane design professionals to contribute to this document for others to draw upon and continue the conversation on the future of the city.

Nathalie Ward’s piece “City in a Landscape” (page 26) discusses how Brisbane’s climate and topography have shaped our city and defined our lifestyle. She calls for the creation of a Green Grid as a high priority for city planning policy and governance.

Lat27’s “The Green Grid: Inner City Brisbane Study” was completed in 2017 for the Office of the Queensland Government Architect and contributed to this broader strategy document.

The full document is now available through numerous online and physical libraries, including:

Queensland State Library

The physical publication of “Brisbane: an independent vision for the state’s capital” can be found at the John Oxley Library collection at the State Library.  Available for onsite viewing in the Level 4 Reading Room.
